California Governor Edmund Brown Visited Tsinghua University Calling for Shared Commitment on Reducing Carbon Level
 
California Governor Edmund Brown and his delegation started their visit to Beijing on April 8, and this visit has become the focus of public attention. On April 11, Governor and the delegation attended a Beijing Forum held by Tsinghua University entitled China-California Dialogue: Our Shared Path Toward Energy Innovation and Low Carbon Development. Both parties expressed wishes to collaborate on environment protection and low carbon development and discussed how to solve the threatening issue of global climate change. In the afternoon, Governor Brown met with Li Keqiang, China’s Premier.
In the bright and breezy morning of April 11, Governor and Mrs Brown arrived at Tsinghua campus. Kevin Xu, an entrepreneur representative and the president of MEBO International Group, and He Jiankun, Dean of Institute of Global Low-carbon Economy, Tsinghua University joined and welcomed the delegation. The forum enjoyed an attendance of near 200 entrepreneurs and scholars.
In his remarks, Governor Brown called for unified action to combat climate change. He said, “We’re in one world. We’ve got one big problem and we all have to work on it. And what’s beautiful and exciting about climate change is that no one group can solve the problem — not the United States, not California, not Japan, not China — we all have to do it”
Zhao Jiarong, Deputy Secretary-General of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), pointed out that climate change and high level of carbon content had been prominent problems in China, too. China has been dedicated to reducing carbon emission and pollution. We have learned that California has been in the lead in environment protection legislation. Therefore, the two countries can learn from each other, work together toward low-carbon development. Yao Qiang, a scholar with Institute of Global Low-carbon Economy affiliated to Tsinghua University, gave a keynote speech. The forum takes the form of dialogue, which offered a great opportunity for domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and experts to have in-depth communication.
Kevin Xu, President of MEBO International Group that sponsored this forum, said that clean energy, good living environment, and sustainable life development are the major goals for human in this century and future, and development issues receiving increasing attentions in all countries. As the founder and research organization for Regenerative Life and Science, MEBO has made significant breakthroughs in anti-aging, longevity extension, anti-cancer, and Regenerative Medicine. In the new Century, MEBO will show the power of Regenerative Science and achieve the environment and life regeneration.
On the third day of his stay in Beijing, Governor Brown met with other 15 Chinese high officials including Minister of Commerce Department, Minister of Environmental Protection Department, Chairman of National Development and Reform Commission, etc, and attended the reception dinner hold by American Chamber of Commerce at US Embassy in Beijing, met with Gary Locke, the Ambassador of the United States to the People's Republic of China. In the afternoon of April 11, Governor Brown met with China’s Premier, Li Keqiang. And then, the governor and delegation will visit Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing and other places, they will continue to meet with local officials and entrepreneurs, and discuss business investment and trade.
In the past year, as the 8th global economic entity, California made frequent official and economic communication with China. During President Xi Jinping’ s visit to the United States, Governor Brown expressed his intention to organize delegation to visit China to invite investment. This time, He wished to take the opportunity of this visit to attract more Chinese investment to California, promote educational exchange, and send more American student to study in China.
