The Academic Lecture Concerning the Stem Cell Clinical Studies and Application of in situ Regenerative Medicine Stirred in Indonesian Stem Cell Meeting

National Seminar & Discussion ‘Stem Cell’ Research & Application in Indonesia 2010---the national item of Continuing Medical Education （CME） was opened at Aryaduta Hotel from Oct 23 to 24 in 2010 Djakarta. More than 180 experts, professors and doctors from Indonesian Health Ministry, stem cell institutions and stem cell labs of universities attended this meeting, including some who are successful and influential in the field of stem cell studies and application in Indonesia: Dr. BInsar who takes responsibilities for the stem cell study and application in Indonesian Health Minitry, Prof. Farid Anfasa---the President of Indonesian Stem Cell Society and the Director of OB/GY and embryonic center of Indonesian Medical University, Dr. Boenjamin Setiawan---the Director of Indonesian National Cancer and Stem Cell Institution, Prof. Chaula---the former president of Indonesian Burn Society and former director of Plastic Surgery Department of Indonesian University, Dr. Aditya---the Director of Burn and Plastic Surgery Department of Indonesian University who has acquired the success in the treatment of burn injuries with MEBT/MEBO (in situ cultivating stem cells) and Dr. Yefta---who has certain experience in the area of Autologous Epithelial Cultivating and Grafting. This meeting can be thought as the paramount seminar and discussion of stem cells studies and application in Indonesia.

At 8:30 of Oct 23, the meeting started and hosted by Dr. Tri Wahyu the secretary of Indonesian Medical Doctor Association and the cardiovascular specialist. Then, Dr. Binsar---supervisor of stem cell item in Health Ministry and Prof. Farid Anfasa gave speeches generally introducing the progress of stem cells studies and application in Indonesia and expressed their appreciation and welcome to the participation of Prof. Chen Yongchong---the assistant of Prof. Xu Rongxiang-the founder of Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science, the vice-president of Beijing Rongxiang Regenerative Medicine Institution, vice-chairman of Beijing Burn Association of the integrity of Traditional and Western Medicine and the member of International Society of Burn Injuries (ISBI).

After the open ceremony, the lectures were officially beginning. At first, it was the lecture by Prof. Farid Anfasa called ‘Work Report and Future Plan of Stem Cell Study and Application in Indonesia’; then, Dr. Boenjamin Setiawan gave a leture---‘the Searching Results’ Report of International Stem Cells Study and Application’; after that, Dr. Aditya, the director of burn and plastic department of Affiliated Cipto Hospital of Indonesia University lectured with the title ‘Application of Skin Cultivating Technique in Treatment of Burns’ in which introduced the developing process of the burn treatment from the traditional skin-grafting to autologous epithelial cultivating grafting to the current in situ skin regenerative medicine. In particular, the successful clinical experience applying MEBT/MEBO invented by Prof. Xu Rongxiang since 2008 that had become the model of stem cell application was much welcomed. Prof. Chen Yongchong was the forth speaker (the last one in the morning) who presented a lecture titled as ‘The Clinical Research and Application of K-19 Stem Cell in Full-thickness Burn Skin Regenerative’ in which explained the Prof. Xu Rongxiang’s clinical researching procedures and results of ‘in situ activation of potential regenerative cells (PRCs), and then induce and transform PRCs into K-19 type stem cells that are in situ cultivated into new physiological skin.’ In addition, the lecture also covered the application of in situ skin regenerative medicine in People’s Republic of China and other more than 30 countries over the past 20 years in the treatment of large burn, sever trauma (severed finger) and chronic ulcers. After having seen the real study report and the amazing, simple, practical and ideal clinical efficacy, all of the audience was submerged in the astonishment and the bright future of in situ skin regenerative medicine’s research and application. Heavy applause was offered after five seconds’ quietness at the end of Prof. Chen’s lecture that propelled the meeting’s phenomenon to the climax. All participants believed in consensus that Prof. Xu’s in situ skin regenerative medicine had exceedingly surpassed the level of the stem cell studies of advanced countries in Europe and America, especially the outstanding achieved success in the clinical application.

After the end of the morning’s speeches, Prof. Chen was circled by many experts, some asking questions, some celebrating, some seeking advice, some discussing the cooperation of the next step concerning stem cells study, some especially consulting the treatment of severed finger and some applying for the chance to study MEBT/MEBO in China. Prof. Chen consecutively and heartily offered the explanation and guidance that lasted for the beginning of the afternoon’s meeting. Some of them had no time to have lunch. Something valued to be mentioned: Mr. Zhangyin and Mr. Wu Yun, from Beijing Rongxiang Regenerative Medicine Institution coped with the schedule and arragement for Prof. Chen and kept close contacts with Indonesian Medical Doctor Association. Moreover, Mr. Kirastha, the officer in charge responsible with the spread and development of in situ regenerative medicine in Indonesia for Combiphar, came in the meeting, coordinated and helped the interpretation (from Indonesian to English). At the same time, he distributed the material of regenerative medicine to provide good support and assistance for more comprehensive acknowledgement, learning and application of in situ regenerative medicine.

In the afternoon of Oct 24, 2010, ‘NATIONAL SEMINAR & DISCUSSION ‘STEM CELL’ Research & Application in Indonesia 2010’ was successfully closed. This was a meaningful meeting. Just like the words from the secretary of this meeting, ’This is a very successful meeting that made the Indonesian experts and doctors in the studies of stem cells known the up-to-date progress of stem cells study and application. In particular, Prof. Chen, from People’s Republic of China, brought the most superior techniuque---in situ regenerative medicine to Indonesia that provides a new thought and way in the area of stem cell study. It is just like a stimulant or heart-strengthening agent to the clinical application of in situ regenrative medicine. Furthermore, it makes the treatment of burn injuries, traumas and ulcers with the application of in situ regenerative medicine become a reality.
