The 1st Academic Exchange and Technological Training on Regenerative Medicine in Africa
At the invitation of Tunisia Burns & Plastic Surgery Society and many local hospitals, Prof. Chen Yongchong, (director of the Clinical Department of the China Burns & Ulcers Science Technology Center, deputy director of Beijing Rongxiang Institute of Regenerative Medicine, deputy commissioner of Beijing Branch of the Chinese Burn Association of the Integrity of Traditional and Western Medicine (CBAIM) and deputy director of the Chinese Journal of Burns, Wounds and Surface Ulcers) attended the Annual Congress of Tunisia Burns & Plastic Surgery Society in the North Africa—Tunisia and gave training lectures, academic exchanges, clinical demonstration on burns and ulcers treatment in many burns centers, which received warm reception of the local clinicians, nurses and patients. In the short 4-day visit, Prof. Chen successfully attended the national academic exchange congress and presented the specific lecture. The participants included about 35 experts on burns, plastic surgery and wounds from Tunis. And satisfactory results had been gained on academic promotion, clinical technology application regulation. In total, 1 municipal training seminar was held to over 50 medical care staff; two training seminars in the hospitals were given to 40 medical care staff; 6 medical promotion staff of the distribution company were trained; and clinical consultation and guidance for 2 cases of burns and 5 cases of ulcers. All these efforts were all ended with satisfactory effects.
1. 27th April 2010, the training seminar was held in the Bizerte Hospital of Lundi et Jeudi state to the clinicians from the Wound Surgery Department (the hospital is the provincial government hospital, the largest local hospital). The seminar was hosted by Dr. Med Ridha of Wound Surgery Department and over 20 surgical clinicians attended this seminar.
2. 28th April 2010, the training seminar was held in the Burns&Wounds Hospital to clinicians from burns and wounds departments (the hospital is the largest special hospital on burns and wounds treatment). The training seminar was hosted by Dr. Amen Allah Messaadi, director of the Burns Center. There were 50 clinicians on burns and plastic surgery from over 10 hospitals in the city participating this training. In the training, the contents were in the combination of clinical cases examples, which were direct and easy to understand.
3. 29th April 2010, the academic exchange meeting was held in the meeting hall of Acropole Hotel. Hosted by Dr. Alla Heleil, the meeting joined over 30 clinicians on burns, plastic surgery and wounds from the 10 hospitals of 3 cities. Prof. Chen presented a lecture titled Burns Regenerative Medical and Academic System in Burns, Wounds and Ulcers Treatment. More over there were another 6 experts giving introduction about their own clinical experience on burns wounds and ulcers treatment with MEBO ointment. The meeting was full of academic environment and all the attendant considered this meeting as a very good study opportunity and sincerely hoped that in the future there would be the chance for technological and experience introduction and exchange activities in the annual congress.
4. On 30th April 2010, the training seminar was held in the Plastic Surgery Department of Charles Nicolees Hospital affiliated to Tunis University (the Tunis University affiliated hospital is the largest hospital in Tunis). The seminar was hosted by Dr. Ali Adouani and over 30 clinicians and nurses on plastic surgery and wounds participated the training. More over after the training, Prof. Chen joined the consultation and demonstration on difficult-to-heal clinical cases with very good teaching results.
In this short 4-day visit to Tunis on technological training and medical marketing of regenerative medicine, effective academic exchanges, clinical training and consultation on difficult cases were arranged with expected good result and more local clinicians of Tunis got the chance for a further learning of the mechanism, scientific theories, clinical application standards and clinical application of big burns of burns regenerative medicine and technology. This visit played an important role in the promotion of the application of burns regenerative medicine and technology in big burns treatment and other medical fields. We strongly believe that with the continuous promotion of regenerative medicine and technology in Tunis, there will be more and more clinicians and big burns patients benefiting from this internationally advanced technology!
