Market Promotion in Thailand Further Enhanced
On November 8th of 2013, Mr. Wu Yun (Manager with Marketing Department of MEBO International) and Ms. Zhang Meiyan (member of Chinese Burns Association of Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine) attended the Second Skin Repair and Plastic Surgery Conference and started their 5-day medical promotion.
On November 11th, guided by Ms. Chantana and Ms. Kittirat, MEBO team visited a key doctor with Vichaiyut Hospital. She knew MEBO when she was a medical college student about ten years ago, majoring in treatment of wounds after laser surgery. Zhang inquired the doctor about the application of MEBO in treating scars by combining laser and displayed results of Chinese doctors in such field to her. She was surprised and expressed her desire to have to try in future clinical application.

In the afternoon, MEBO team visited leaders with MEBO (Thailand) and exchanged their ideas about the development of MEBO in Thailand. The team of international department reported about the latest news about awards of Mr. Xu. The two sides were all very excited and expressed their appreciation and respect and were very confident about the future success in promotion of regenerative therapy.

On 6:00, November 12th, MEBO team and Ms. Kittirat drove for two hours to Rajburi Hospital, the provincial hospital and one the largest hospitals in west of Thailand. MEBO has been listed into drug list of the hospital. However, the application field is rather limited, mainly on superficial burns and partial-thickness burns superficial type burns. Misunderstandings still remain among medical staff who believes MEBO cannot be applied on face. The nurses there were quite warm-hearted and the organizers were responsible. Thirty five nurses swarmed the small meeting room which can only accommodate about 10 people. Ms. Zhang explained the standard dressing change process to nurses and emphasized that no other preparations shall be used in the second and later-on dressing changes. Though nurses were poor in English, they are enthusiastic. Their speech can be paused at any time and anyone can offer their questions. Some nurses who are good at English served as translator for others. All of them were surprised about the cases. After the presentation, Ms. Zhang visited the wards in burns department. There are altogether 8 beds in this department, including two single rooms. During their visit, a diabetes patient was right there waiting for dressing change. Ms. Zhang corrected the methods of dressing change and emphasized that no normal saline could be used to wash wounds and displayed the standard operation.

On November 13th, the CME was held in Pahol Karnchanuburi Hospital, the provincial hospital in west of Thailand and a governmental hospital with high patient flow. However, doctors spared time to attend the presentation, including two key doctors and 10 resident physicians. One of the key doctors has adopted MEBO in a private hospital in Bangkok and another one hospital, mainly using it to treat burns and ulcers. And the other doctor exchanged ideas with MEBO team members and expressed his support over the application of drug list.

On November 14th, MEBO team arrived at a private hospital, one hour’s drive from Bangkok. Twenty senior doctors presented the event, and they are all good at English. So, the communication was quite smooth. After the presentation, they offered many questions involving application on closed wounds, such as eczema, fungal infections and treatment of scars and pimples. Ms. Zhang displayed the application of MEBO in such field. One doctor was interested in micro skin grafting technique, so Ms. Zhang added some other slides. The other doctor asked about comparison test, and she explained comparisons between MEBO and silver dressing, normal saline, fucidin, solfra, tegaderm, Vaseline and growth factor. Some doctors asked about treatment with MEBO after radioactive treatment. And she explained to them with the slides made by technique department. Then, she talked about the rescue efforts of MEBO in 1990s in an explosion in Thailand, the news about Mr. Xu’s awards and MEBO’s application in China and other countries. She encouraged those who are interested in MEBO to come to China for further observation. After the event, discussion continued. MEBO team members left the contact information for doctors for further communication. In the afternoon, they drove back outskirt of Bangkok for supper with Dr. Anne Suppaporn and asked about details of applying MEBO after conference in Indonesia. Anne said she accepted much complicated cases, and Ms. Zhang shared some other complex cases with her. The two talked very happily and promised to keep in touch.
In the morning, 6:00, we arrived at a private hospital, the Soonphatepattana Hospital, which recently listed MEBO into its drug list. The CME and CNE were held before the shift of doctors and nurses. Nine nurses and one doctor presented the presentation focusing on introduction of regenerative therapy and dressing change. The nurses were still quite puzzled about dressing change without normal saline and repeatedly stressed the secondary dressing change and no use of stimulating preparations onto wounds. However, they are poor in English. Fortunately, after repeated explanation, they finally understood.
A doctor failed to attend due an emergent patient. And, we paid a visit to this doctor after presentation. He said that the regenerative therapy is only applied in cases of superficial and partial-thickness burns due to small patients flow in private hospitals. However, based on our observation, most of the patients came here for dressing change. Ms. Zhang introduced other indications of MEBO to this doctor, including bruises, various ulcers and wounds. The doctor showed great interests and asked again and again the methods of dressing change. Ms. Zhang made detailed explanations.
At noon, MEBO team visited a key doctor in another private hospital. This doctor is a firm supporter of MEBO and has adopted our products for years. This private hospital adopts more MEBO than some large government hospitals in almost all of its departments. During talks with him, Ms. Zhang knew that he was not familiar with micro skin grafting techniques. Therefore, she took out laptop computer to introduce the technique to him. And, he was interested in it and required the slides. Since he is a key doctor and is interested in MEBO, we invited him to come to China for further understanding of micro skin grafting technique when he is free.
The medical promotion was quite wonderful and fruitful, and the huge space and potential of regenerative therapy in Thailand market is determined. This year, with joint efforts of MEBO (China and Thailand) and its agents, the promotion of MEBO in OTC drug stores increases to a new high level, exploring new channels for market promotion in Thailand. All teams for local hospitals will make more efforts for comprehensive development.
