Conference on the Latest Development on Treatment for Refractory Wounds and Scars
--Report on the Continuing Education Program of CBAIM
Approved by Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, an academic conference themed as “Latest Development on Treatment for Refractory Wounds and Scars” was held on April 26, 2013 at the Lecture Hall of Nanyuan Hospital, Fengtai District, Beijing. This academic activity also constitutes a continuing education program of China Burn Association of Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine (hereinafter referred to as CBAIM). CBAIM held this academic exchange with a focus to showing the latest development of Regenerative Medicine in treatment of refractory wounds and ulcers. Committee members from CBAIM, medical staffs from different hospitals and clinics in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei province presented the Conference.
The short opening ceremony was presided by Li Zhiwu, Vice President of Nanyuan Hospital. Mr. Zhao Xiyin, Deputy Chairman and Secretary General of CAIM, gave an opening speech. Mr. Xiao Lixin, Deputy Head of Fengtai District Government delivered congratulatory remarks. Mr. He Xuesong, President of Nanyuan hospital addressed a warm speech. Dr. David Park from the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Daegu Catholic Medical Center, also delivered congratulatory remarks (interpreted by Zhang Meiyan, Technical Assistant from the Foreign Affairs Office of CBAIM). He also expressed appreciation to the sponsor and organizer and his wish to further exchange information about application of Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. Ms. Dong Yanju gave great support and help to this academic activity and had communications with many attendees.
Prof. Xiao Mo, Chairman of CBAIM, delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the organizer, highlighting James Watson’s remarks about genetic therapy, the rise of Human Body Regenerative and Restoration Science and the drastic change in international life science. In this new situation, Prof. Xu Rongxiang, the founder of Human Body Regenerative and Restoration Science, gave a lecture with the topic “Advent of the Great Era of Regenerative Science”. He reviewed, analyzed and predicted the development of Natural Science, Life Science and Medicine, and summarized the end of genetic therapy, as well as the rise and bright prospect of Regenerative Science. Prof. Xiao hoped all the attendees to learn the Regenerative Medicine and Therapy by heart to better serve patients.

During the conference, Prof. Xiao Mo, Prof. David Park, Wen Bing (Director with No. 1 Hospital of Beijing University and Vice Chairman of CBAIM), Dr. Liu Fenghua (Vice Chairman of CBAIM and staff of Guanganmen Hospital affiliated to China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences), Mr. Chen Yongchong and several other clinical experts and professor delivered academic reports and exchanged ideas over application of regenerative medical techniques in treatment of burns, wounds and ulcers.

The conference was brimmed with professional academic atmosphere, excellent lectures, and attentive audiences. The lecture – “Clinical Protocol of Applying Regenerative Therapy in Treatment of Refractory Wounds”, shed light on the significance and procedures of applying Regenerative Therapy, which was warmly welcomed by the participating medical staffs.
An exhibition booth was set up outside the lecture hall serving as a platform for experts to exchange ideas and distribute free brochures. Attendees and visitors showed great interests to the magazines and books about Regenerative Medicine and Therapy and its application in treatment of pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, anorectal diseases, dermal conditions and refractory wounds. Dr. David Park also showed strong interest and came to the booth for consultation. He was surprised by the amazing therapeutic effect of Regenerative Therapy and planned to apply it in plastic surgeries.

As the organizer of this conference, Nanyuan Hospital provided a good environment for this academic exchange, organized a ward tour for attendees from Tianjin City and Hebei Province to the see for themselves and discuss the application of Regenerative Medicine, receiving appreciation and favorable reviews.
This conference promoted academic exchange, highlighted the fact of the Advent of the Great Era of Regenerative Science, introduced the new technology and new therapy for refractory wound and scar treatment to a great many medical staffs, provided an opportunity for academic exchange and discussion, and made them more confident in their application of Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. The conference concluded successfully as scheduled.
