The Technical Revolution of Burn Treatments in India is Imminent
Background: India is the second-most populous developing country with high incidence of burn injuries. Most of patients are usually admitted to the governmental hospitals to receive the treatments. In the governmental hospital, the main way to treat the superficial burns is the administration of Sulfadiazine Silver to prevent the infection on the wound beds; hereby, the purpose of self-healing could be achieved. For the burns with partial thickness type, the escharectomy and skin-grafting are the only ways to be applied. And the severe pain during the escharectomy with persistent bleeding is an unendurable process for patients. But for the severe burns on the extremities that can not be conducted the skin-grafting, it is common to employ the way of amputation. And for those with massive deep full-thickness type, the burn experts and medical staff in India usually can do nothing to help.
At the 15th Meeting of the International Society for Burn Injuries that was hold in Istanbul Turkey June 2010 (check for relevant reports), worldwide participants were strongly shocked by the MEBO Human Body regenerative Restoration Science during which a dozen of burn experts from India got acquainted with MEBO delegation. Among them, Dr. Jayaraman, the Secretary of Indian Burn Association talked and discussed with MEBO delegates about the transformation of somatic cells into stem cells to in situ regenerate skin tissues and was deeply convinced by the amazing clinical results of Skin in situ regenerative Restoration Technique (also called as Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy) in the management of burns. After the meeting, he wrote to Mr. Zhangyin, the scientific assistant of MEBO delegation and invited him and MEBO delegation to pay an academic visit to India at the right time and offer the guidance in burn treatment.
Aug 1, 2010, Mr. Liu Gang, the Marketing Director of MEBO International Business Dept and Mr. Zhang Yin, the scientific assistant of Chinese Burn Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine, Chinese National Medical Network of Burns, Wounds and Ulcers and Chinese Journal of Burns, Wounds and Surface Ulcers came to the Burn Center of Affiliated Hospital of Kilpuak Medical College located in TN (Tamilnadu) by the warm request of Dr. Jayaraman to conduct the academic communication and the on-the-spot investigation of Indian current status of burn treatment. The Burn Center of Affiliated Hospital of Kilpuak Medical College is one of the biggest burn centers in south India involving in the treatment of more than 2800 burn cases annually; at the same time, it always devotes itself to the emergent care of massive deep full-thickness burns.
Accompanied by Dr. Jayaraman, Mr. Liu Gang and Mr. Zhang Yin paid a visit to Outpatient Dept, Intensive Care Unit and Inpatient Dept. Dr. Jayaraman gave an introduction about the methods being used in the burn center to treat burn injuries. The main way to treat the superficial burns is the administration of Sulfadiazine Silver to prevent the infection on the wound beds; hereby, the purpose of self-healing attempts could be achieved. For the partial thickness burns, the escharectomy and skin-grafting are the only ways to be applied. In terms of the treatment of massive full-thickness burns, Dr. Jayaraman expressed that the current cure rate is significantly low with high rate of deformity as well as the tough manipulation of the treating process, especially the control of infection.
During the visit, Dr. Jayaraman unceasingly asked the detailed procedures of Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy on the patients with different burn status. First of all, Mr. Zhang Yin gave a general introduction about the mechanism of Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy---that is the transformation of somatic cell into stem cells and in situ regenerative restoration of skin tissue organ by stem cells. Then, he gave detailed explanation about how to treat superficial second degree burn, deep second degree and deep third degree with the Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. Meanwhile, Mr. Liu also introduced the mechanisms of MEBO Wound Ointment, including prevention of the progressive necrosis, analgesia, liquefaction and discharging of liquefied necrotic tissues, control of infection and etc.
After the visit, Dr. Jayaraman said with excitement, ‘Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy is the new revolution in the treatments of burn injuries. It follows the law of life development to ponder the burn treatment from the points of life science. It is not only the innovation of technology, but also the innovation of philosophy.’ When informed of the ongoing clinical trial of MEBO Wound Ointment in India, Dr. Jayaraman said with high emotion, ‘This burn center, as one of the biggest burn center in south India is willing to be enrolled in the clinical trial of Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. I wish I have the day to release the clinical findings with all the Indian experts, scholars and doctors who dedicates to the studies and treatments of burn injuries in the 2011 Annual Meeting of Indian National Burn.’
At the end, Dr. Jayaraman enthusiastically offered an invitation to MEBO delegation and worldwide regenerative specialists to attend the 2011 Annual Meeting of Indian National Burn that will be hold from the Jun 21 to Jun 23 in 2011 and expected to spread the Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy to every burn surgeon in India as soon as possible, eventually to benefit ten thousands of burned patients.
