The 29th Patent of Prof. Xu Rongxiang Obtained China’s Authorization
The patent was submitted in 2002, which clearly and accurately defined the regenerative cells and described the functions, saying that it is a kind of cell that enjoys potential of stem cells to reproduce and proliferate and exits in tissues in the form of ordinary tissue cells. This means that anyone who claims induction of pluripotent cells through somatic cells will infringe our intellectual property rights.
On August 28th of this year, a piece of exciting news about Prof. Xu’s 29th patent (Potential Regenerative Cells and Its Culture Methods) has obtained patent authorization from China. The patent relates to potential regenerative cells that can keep proliferating and the cells, tissues and organs of mammals cultured and reproduced in vitro. It also relates to methods to culture potential regenerative cells, tissues and tissue organs of mammals including humans and the regulator promoting cells growth.
His lawsuit against Nobel Committee and Prof. Shinya Yamanaka triggered war of intellectual property rights around the world to protect patent rights of Prof. Xu in the field of stem cells research. And, at the moment, the patent was finally obtained after President Obama included the scientific route of “Regeneration of Damaged Organ” into his State of the Union Address, the main media (including PR Newswire, Wall Street Journal, Routers, Bloomberg and other TV media) reported the achievements about regenerative technology in various languages to the whole world in an effort to help those governments and various non-governmental organization to benefit human beings with the new scientific mechanism and when the practice of human body regeneration was introduced to the world and the human body regeneration science has turned into mainstream life science system. All researches adopting such scientific rout shall be protected by patents. Therefore, the intellectual property protection mechanism of human body regeneration science is established.
