8th - 12th September 2003
On behalf of Dr. Rongxiang Xu and MEBO International Group, Mrs Xia Sun, Director of the bio-medical department for the MEBO International Group spoke to approximately 100 international delegates at the Asia Pacific Burns Congress which was held in Brisbane Australia.
Mrs Xia Sun was the 6th speaker of the afternoon the paper she presented was about Burn Regenerative Therapy (BRT). Mrs Xia Sun presented a very in depth and extremely informative talk on the regenerative properties of MEBO (Moist Exposed Burn Ointment)/MEBT (Moist Exposed Burn Therapy) in the treatment of full thickness burns.
The presentation covered the four main problems associated when dealing with burn management and how BRT with MEBO/MEBT help solve the following issues; pain, scaring, infection and progressive necrosis.
The clinical data presented, demonstrated the remarkable results of this new technique. It was also mentioned that currently 350,000 patients are treated each year with MEBT/MEBO with a total curative rate of 99.42%. For serious burns with TBSA > 90%, the curative and survival rate is 92%, of which 87% of patients recover without any disablement. This treatment method is now being published in medical text books.
After her talk the Chairman Mr Naoka Aikawa, president of ISBI (International Society of Burn Injury), described the presentation as "amazing results and a revolutionary product!", he also invited Prof. Xu and MEBO International group to attend the 12th annual congress of ISBI to be held in August of 2004 in Yokohama, Japan.
The delegates were then invited for more comments or questions for discussion.
One doctor from the Children's Hospital in Sydney enquired about where stem cells are housed and the stem cells survival rates after a full thickness burn.
A senior medical lecturer from Texas USA also made comment about stem cells and their special qualities, including their ability to survive after a burn injury and thanked Mrs Xia Sun for her enlightening presentation.
After the session ended Mrs Xia Sun was inundated with specialists from all around the world who would like to learn more about BRT with MEBT/MEBO.
