The benevolence of a doctor, equivalent to universal love and sympathy, can be regarded as kind of understanding and tolerance, the retaining of one’s mind as well as persistence and contributions. At 8 : 02am, April 20th, a powerful earthquake of 7 magnitude hit Ya’an. Right after the earthquake, medical workers went to the disaster relief sites without any hesitation. Bearing in mind the ardent hope of all Chinese and the medical ethics, they offered their hands with their expertise silently. People praised them and respected them. Within the past few days, various impressive stories took place.
Director Fu Zijun is just one of those medical workers. As a famous local doctor and expert, he devoted into disaster relief without any fears and hesitation.
Entrusted with Mission at Critical Moment
Director Fu Zijun is Vice Director of The Chinese Burn Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine and an expert who enjoys the honor of special allowance of State Council. Behind all these glories and honors, he shows his benevolence and boundless love with his practice.
On April 19th, Mr. Fu Zijun went to Chengdu for a group consultation of a patient with wounds and ulcers under the invitation of Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine of Sichuan Province. Originally, he planned to go back to Pixian County to visit his son Fu Chengxi and his family. However, on the morning of April 20th, the unexpected earthquake changed his mind and he realized that he should be with the patients. Right at that moment, he received a message from Dr. Xu Rongxiang, the Honorary Director of the Chinese Burn Association of the Integration of the Traditional and Western Medicine, about inquiry of current conditions of disasters as well as the greetings to him and his team members. Then, he decided to go back to Ya’an People’s Hospital where the patients needed him and the in-situ skin regenerative therapy.
The telecommunication was totally interrupted, so he sent his son a message, informing him about his prompt return to hospital for rescuing victims. Junior Fu understands most what his father thinks, and he replied in his message “Better not to drive too fast, all of us are safe, and stay away from dangerous constructions.” Then, he sent a new message “Dad, come on, we’re Communist Party members, and I respect you. Take care of yourself. I will wait for you and I will drink with you once you come back. We’ll all support, take it easy.”
Ya’an People’s Hospital received the most victims among all others after the earthquake. No doubt, the medical staff there would undertake more difficult tasks and loads. And, Mr. Fu Zijun is only one of them. With the understanding of his son and the concerns from Dr. Xu, he worked for several hours continuously and saved many victims with his in-situ skin regenerative therapy.
The understanding and support from his family and the society made his once again fulfill his duty as a doctor.
“Lucky” Reporter
After the powerful earthquake, the whole world turned eyes to Ya’an. People from all walks of life, including leaders of central government, paid close attention to the disaster relief work through televisions and network and offered their hands, representing the Chinese spirit of “Helping Those in Emergency”. In order to report the actual conditions of the disaster region, the reporters travelled through the zone.
In the afternoon of April 21st, Mr. Fu Zijun received a phone call from earthquake relief headquarter when he was busy treating patients, requiring him to go there right away. After he arrived there, he was informed that the shank of a reporter was hurt with infections. After careful examination of her wounds, he found swollen and infected wounds. When told about this, she urgently asked Fu whether there is a kind of treatment that can make her wounds heal quickly, because she would go back to disaster zone and report the conditions there to all people around China. Moved by her professionalism, Director Fu told her, “No problem. Our in-situ skin regenerative technique can help you heal quickly. You will continue your work very soon. The treatment is very convenient. However, you must follow my orders and change the dressings once every day. I promise you that your infections will not get deteriorated and the wounds will heal quickly.” Later, Fu cleansed her wounds and applied MEBO Wound and Ulcer Dressing, a special product that utilizes in-situ skin regenerative technique. At the same time, he introduced the principle of such technique and instructed her about the methods of dressing change and gave her the dressings that she might use in later treatment as a gift.
What worth mentioning is that she excited asked Fu, “Is this invented by Prof. Xu?” when she saw the trade marks on the dressings. Fu told her that the in-situ skin regenerative technique and MEBO are all the inventions of Prof. Xu and Ya’an People’s Hospital has applied this technique and the products for local citizens for years and gained satisfactory feedback. She said that she had interviewed Xu and had never thought that she could be applied with his technique and products. She felt very lucky.
We believe the reporter shall fulfill her tasks of reporting disasters. And, the medical staff like Fu will also apply the in-situ skin regenerative technique to rescue more vicitims.
