Opening of the First International Burns Wounds & Ulcers Conference Platform for the Exchange of MEBT Achievements

On 25 May, the 12th National Burns Wounds & Ulcers Conference and the 1st International Burns Wounds & Ulcers Conference was jointly held in Nantong city, Jiangsu province and more than 400 scholars and clinical experts convened for this conference during which more than 70 foreign experts from North America, Europe, Middle east, Southeast Asia and etc. reported on their own experience using MEBT/MEBO in treating extensive and deep burns, huge diabetic ulcers and other wounds.

MEBT is the acronym of ‘Moist Exposed Burn Therapy’ and means the moist therapy for burns treatment (also refer to the skin in situ regenerative medical technology), which is invented by Professor Xu Rongxiang, life scientist and the head of Beijing Rongxiang Institute of Regenerative Medicine.

Professor XU said MEBT is to activate the viable cells and potential regenerative cells in the deep layers of burned skin by integrating the standardized application of the matching medication MEBO. These cells can function as the “seeds” regenerating new tissues and skin directly on the wound. The application of MEBT has become a lead of global medicine in treating various burns, wounds and ulcers, and up to now, there have been 73 countries and regions applying this technology in the worldwide.

Sun Longchun, former vice-president of China’s Ministry of Health attended the conference in which he said that the treatment of deep burns is the most difficult among various burns. Full layers of skin including epithelial, dermal and etc were almost destroyed by heat in the cases of deep burns. The mainstream treatment for II degree burns worldwide is to apply the conventional therapy (dry therapy) that often causes severe pains and costs a lot. However, MEBT/MEBO is a regenerative approach with a high total healing rate and being as 60% expensive as the traditional way. In 1991, China’s Ministry of Health listed MEBT/MEBO as one of the first ten important medical techniques to be popularized nationwide. In the past two decades, MEBT/MEBO has been widely used in the suburban areas and community-level hospitals in China.

Prof. XU Rong-xiang disclosed that he has not only founded the revolutionary medical theory in burns treatment, but also made the mechanisms of human organs in situ regenerative restoration clear based on the model of burned skin in situ regeneration, as well as has achieved the in situ regenerative restoration on thousands of patients with amputated fingertips, the in situ regenerative skin healing in DM ulcers, the in situ regenerative restoration of internal organs and tissues and etc.
