New Vitality in Thailand Market
In September, 1990, there was a world-shaking gas explosion accident happened in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, in which more than 100 people got burnt. In order to make the patients with severe burns receive the treatment by Burns Regenerative Medicine and Therapy (known as Moisture Exposed Burn Therapy, at that time), Prof. Xu went to offer his hand to rescue those with massive severe burns by the request of Thailand Health of Ministry and the dispatch of Chinese Government and achieved great success with no one death or deformity, by which Thailand became the earliest oversea country to bring in and apply Burns Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. At the same time, it is the longest oversea base to apply Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. However, the wide spread and popularity of Regenerative Medicine and Therapy in Thailand has somewhat been sluggish by various causes and the restriction of objective conditions.
Since 2008, the medical development via academic activities has achieved great progress by the co-efforts of MEBO International Group, the MEBO agencies and distributors in Thailand after unceasingly communications and break-in. In May, 2010, several renowned Thailand experts visited China, paid visits to MEBO’s base hospital applying Regenerative Medicine and Therapy and participated in the 11th China National Meeting of Burns, Wounds and Ulcers; and Prof. Xu Rongxiang, the founder of Burns Regenerative Medicine and Therapy explained their doubts and questions by himself that received great effects.
In order to consolidate the achievements and accelerate the clinical application of Regenerative Medicine and Therapy in Thailand, Prof. Chen Yongchong, the clinical director of China National Science & Technology Center for Burns, Wounds and Ulcers, Vice-President of Beijing Rongxiang Institution of Regenerative Medicine, vice Director of Chinese Burn Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine and the vice-President of Chinese Journal of Burns, Wounds and Ulcers was invited to give lectures and conduct training classes and clinical directions in more than 10 general governmental or private hospitals after elaborate plan and operation by the district manager of MEBO in Thailand, Mr. Wu Yun with local agencies and distributors, by which the total sum of 478 medical staffs were trained and the treatment of 17 cases with deep burns, chronic ulcers and diabetes ulcers were directed. It effectively consolidated and strengthened the academic position of Burns Regenerative Medicine and Therapy in Thailand. The unprecedented breakthrough was gained in medical development in Thailand. A new bout of studying and applying Regenerative Medicine and Therapy in Thailand was arisen with thriving vitality.
1、 The second training class and clinical direction are the effective approaches for the hospitals that are using the regenerative techniques to maintain and improve the application of Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. Prof. Chen conducted training classes and clinical directions three times on 6, 11 and 16 Sep, at Klang Hospital in Bangkok. More than 30 doctors and nurses in burns, plastic and general surgery joined in the training classes. Good clinical efficacies were gained on several patients with burns, wounds and ulcers who received the treatment of regenerative medicine by the direction of Prof. Chen.
2. It becomes a sharp sword in medical development to conduct academic lectures and demonstration of clinical cases.
(1)、 On 7 Sep, Prof. Chen gave a specific lecture called ‘the Application of Regenerative Medicine and Therapy in the Treatment of Burns, Wounds and Ulcers’ in Taksin Hospital on invitation. There were nearly 40 medical staffs from surgery department and DM foot treating center took part in this academic activity. After the end of lecture, the demonstration of treating procedures on patient was immediately launched. Every medical staff was convinced by the great clinical efficacy of regenerative medicine. Then Regenerative Medicine and Therapy was at once brought in this hospital.
(2)、 In the morning of Sep 14, Prof. Chen went to Burinam province where is 10 hours driving away from Nakhonsawan province in which he had just finished the consultations and treating directions of patients with burns, wounds and ulcers, to prepare the next medical developing activity tirelessly. In the morning of the next day, Prof. Chen directly entered the operation room in Burinam Hospital (the biggest hospital in Nurinam province with more than 700 beds) to conduct the consultation and clinical direction on a patient with TBSA up to 35%, led by Dr. Watchara, the director of plastic surgery department. All of the people were amazed with admiration by the simple practice, non-bleeding and non-pain during the application of Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. After the cases’ consultation and discussion, all came to the academic hall to participate the training classes concerning Regenerative Medicine and Therapy with more than 40 surgeons from burns, plastic and general surgical departments joined in. After the training classes, they got more comprehensive understandings and interpretations with respect to the Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. In order to repeatedly demonstrate the non-pain process of dressing-change, all returned back to the ward after the lecture. Then, Prof. Chen demonstrated the procedures of dressing-change once again on the patient with mass burns. All of them studied earnestly. That means another big governmental hospital formally started using the Regenerative Medicine and Therapy.
3、 The burn centers in large teaching hospitals are our focus in the process of medical development to promote and improve their applications of Regenerative Medicine and Therapy. Siriraj Hospital and Rama Hospital are the first two biggest teaching hospitals in Bangkok with their independent burn centers. Most of burns and plastic surgeons in Thailand are trained from these two hospitals, so their academic position and technical authority are extraordinary. Therefore, a series of training classes, academic communication, case discussions and clinical directions to improve the ability of rescuing patients with mass severe burns got apparent effects.

4、 It is a high-efficient model for medical development to organize large-scale and multiple-provinces training classes concerning regenerative medicine with credits of further education and demonstration of clinical cases. On Sep 13, multiple-provinces training class of regenerative medicine was successfully hold at Navanakorn Hospital with more than 300 medical staffs (some 230 in main venue, 70 in branch venue) coming from no less than 60 hospitals in the five provinces around middle and north of Thailand participated in. At the same time, the demonstration of dressing-change was shown in the spot at the end of the training class. Great training effects were achieved and the academic activities ended up with success.
The series of academic activities lasting for 12 days passed rapidly in our busy work, but the tiredness seems to be faded away from our body in reverse. All of us felt fullness and delight as the regenerative medicine and therapy was better spread and applied in Thailand by our co-efforts. Either deep friendship with each other was built up, or the application of regenerative medicine and therapy in Thailand was enhanced. New vitality is glowing in Thailand!
