The Medical Exploitation in Malaysia was Pushed to the Climax Following up the Previous Victory
With the successful exhibition and lecture of regenerative medicine and techniques at the 15th Meeting of Asian-Pacific Plastic Surgery in Malaysia, the dense interests in the regenerative medicine and products were raised upon nearly 300 clinical experts from more than ten countries in Asia who expressed there could be an opportunity to comprehensively understand and study the regenerative medicine and techniques. Therefore, a series of activities about medical exploitation and maintenance were designed, organized and unfolded in Malaysia following up the victory by Mr. Xu Chong from the international depart of Chinese Burns Wounds & Ulcers Scientific Center and Ms. Ling Shin Chew from the Triniaire Company in Malaysia. Totally, five hospital-wide training classes, two center-wide training classes and three times of academic communications were performed with 209 burns, plastic, general and orthopedics surgeons and registered nurses trained. Moreover, there were 3 governmental teaching hospitals and 1 private large-scale hospital initially to apply the in situ Skin Regenerative Restoration Techniques in their own hospitals. Furthermore, the treatments of one extreme mass burns, three severe burns, eleven ulcers and one scar hyperplasia case were consulted and guided by Prof. Chen. Ultimately, good effect in the exploitation and maintenance of regenerative medicine was so successfully achieved that a new round of climax learning and applying the regenerative medicine and techniques was ignited across Malaysia.
1. In the afternoon of Jul 19th, Prof. Chen Yongchong, the Clinical Director of Chineses Burns Wounds $ Ulcers Scientific Center, Deputy Director of Beijing Rongxiang Institute of Regenerative Medicine, Deputy Director of Beijing Branch of the Chinese Burn Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine (CBAIM) accompanied by Ms Ling Shin Chew, was invited to introduce the application of regenerative medicine and therapy in the field of lacer therapy at Dr. Yap Medical Cosmetic Center in Kuala Lumpur and demonstrate the procedures of regenerative therapy by himself on one patient after laser therapy which gained good effects.
2. At the noon of Jul 20th, the train course called ‘the Clinical Application of Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy in terms of Traumas, Burns and Ulcers’ was successfully held at the fifth-floor meeting room of AM HPAK Melaka Hospital by the organization of further education depart of the hospital. The AM HPAK Melaka Hospital is the biggest private hospital in Melaka with 250 beds. The 89 surgeons and registered nurses from plastic, traumatic, orthopedics, general surgery, tumor, internal medicine and emergency department participated in the training course. All participants listened and studied carefully; after the end of the training course, everyone expressed the will to employ the regenerative medicine and therapy to treat burns, wounds and ulcers, especially the refractory wounds with ardent academic phenomenon.
3. In the morning of Jul 22, Prof. Chen Yongchong, driving more than 300 km, was once again invited to the Orthopedics Department of J.B Governmental Hospital---one of the southmost cities in Malaysia to direct the project of clinical studies in the treatment of severed finger with regenerative medicine and conduct the intractable case consultation with the director and mainstay doctors in the department. Moreover, Prof. Chen answered the questions that came across during the application of regenerative medicine and therapy in the previous three months. It obtained great effects in the exploitation, maintenance, improvement and promotion of medical exploitation.
4. Jul 23rd was a very busy day. At 8 am, Prof, Chen came to the burn and plastic outpatient department of Hospital Sungai Buloh---the affiliated hospital of Malaysian Health Administration once more on invitation. On arrival, several patients had been waiting for the consultation by Prof. Chen. Dr. Salina, the director of Burn department, hosted the consultation. Most of surgeons and nurses took part in the consultation and case analysis. Some of nurses practiced the procedures of scar massage and applicable techniques of elastic splints under the guidance by Prof. Chen. It was 1 pm after the end of fourth patient consultation, but everybody still communicated and discussed with great interests. It either communicated experience with each other or improved the technical skills by means of clinical discussion and guidance.
At 3 pm, upon invitation by Dr. Siti Zubaidah Sharif, the director of burn center in Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Prof. Chen came to consult one patient with intractable burns. The Hospital Kuala Lumpur is the biggest hospital in Malaysia as well as the teaching hospital of medical university with total 2700 beds. The burn center has 11 beds. This patient is a 45-year-old man. The patient was admitted in Dec 2009 after burned by the flame on the upper trunk with TBSA (Total Burn Surface Area) about 35% (classified as deep II degree to III degree). After treated for 7 months with traditional therapy, there were still 15% TBSA not to heal. Moreover, the patient refused to receive the skin-grafting procedures. This had become the refractory wounds that could not be solved by traditional skin-grafting. Dr. Siti Zubaidah Sharif and other surgeions had looked forward to the arrival by Prof. Chen for a long time. Prof. Chen firstly gave an general introduction about the mechanisms, clinical standard procedures and clinical efficacy of burn regenerative medicine and therapy with the carry-on laptop. Then, he discussed and analyzed with the participants, specific to this refractory kind of burns and proposed, ‘the first step is to cultivate the remnant granulation tissues on the wounds to make them healthier and thicker, then to seal the wounds by the way of the Mini-Invasive Regenerative Techniques with Allograft Micro-Skin Planting’ as the treatment program that was thought as the best and the only one by everyone and implemented immediately. The subsequent feedback indicates: the wound ameliorated apparently after the treatment for nearly one month with the satisfaction from the patient and primary doctor.
5. At 9 am, July 24, Prof. Chen was invited to give an general introduction of Burn Regenerative Medicine and Tand conduct the standard clinical training for the medical staff of general surgery and burn department in the Hospital Tergku Ampuan Rahimah Klang. This academic activity hosted by Dr. Awan, the director of burn department, was held in the teaching and researching office of surgical department with the involvement of total 35 medical staff. The novelty and practical training contents were very preferred by participants. The combination of training course with the subsequent clinical practice directly demonstrates the amazing efficacy of regenerative medicine.
6. In the afternoon of July 28, after viewing the amazing efficacy with burn regenerative medicine by Dr. Siti, the director of Hospital Kuala Lumpur, he once again offered an invitation to Prof. Chen and particularly organized this regenerative medicine training course in surgical department with more than 30 doctors and nurses from general surgery department and burn center participating. After that, everyone had great interests in the regenerative medicine, expressing they will apply this international-leading technique in the clinical practice as soon as possible in order to help more patient attain better result.
7. In the morning of July 29th, the regenerative medicine training course was held at the academic hall of Hospital University Sains Malaysia in Kuban Kerian. This training course was hosted by Dr. Wan Azman, the director of burn center. The total 35 medical staff took part in the training. Prof. Chen Yongchong was invited to give a lecture named ‘the Clinical Standard Application of Burn Regenerative Medicine and Therapy’. After the training course, the clinical techniques were demonstrated in combination with the clinical cases which got fine effects and preferred by all participants.
8. In the morning of July 309, Prof. Chen was invited to introduce the burn regenerative medicine and techniques and direct the treatment of burns in Hopital Selayang Dato Pathanan (one of governmental hospital as well as the biggest local hospital with 450 beds, the burn center in it provides 8 beds). After the introduction, Burn Regeneraitve Medicine and Techniques was recommended and applied to treat one burn patient. The follow-up one month later: the wonderful clinical efficacy was gained during the treatment with regenerative medicine and therapy successfully realizing the medical exploitation in the new hospital.
The second round of medical exploitation in 2010 Malaysia, lasting for 11 days, gained good effects under the mutual positive efforts and intimate cooperation in China and Malaysia. In the near future, we believe that regenerative medicine must be spread into every corner of Malaysia with our unceasing endeavor and benefit more patients with burns, wounds and ulcers.
