A Brilliant Journey, a Great Harvest
From November 11th, 2009 to November 18th, 2009, Prof. Ali Al Numairy who is the president of Emirates Medical Association and Plastic Surgery Society and the tutor of graduate students at Dubai Medical Institute was invited by the 37th ICS 2009 Beijing Conference and Chinese Burn Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine to china for a one week’s trip of academic speech of regenerative medicine, experience exchanges, and visit of the regenerative medicine in the treatment of large area deep burns. During one week’s short visit, Prof. Ali was received by Chinese scientist Prof. Xu Rongxiang, the founder of Burn Regenerative Medicine and Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science to his institute for a visit and an extensive communication in the field of regenerative medicine and science. Following that, Dr.. Ali attended the 37th ICS 2009 Beijing Conference and delivered a speech titled as Moist Exposed Burn Therapy, which created an overwhelming stir among the attendants on the conference. By the last part of the journey, he visited the base hospital of China Burn, Wound and Ulcer Science & Technology Center---The Affiliated Hospital of Taishan Medical University and the burn department of the hospital for visiting and learning the treatment of large area deep burn patients with BRT&MEBT/MEBO, followed by an intensive academic exchange with the burns surgeons of that hospital. The whole visit was of plentiful contents with satisfactory results.
In the morning of November 12, 2009, Dr. Ali was invited to visit the cradleland of Human Body Regenerative Restoration Science---Headquarter of MEBO Institute. Dr. Xu Rongxiang received the academic old friend in the VIP office. Dr. Ali is the loyal follower and collaborator of regenerative medicine. Since 1996 when he made an acquaintance with Prof. Xu Rongxiang, the founder of BRT&MEBT/MEBO, he has devoted himself in clinical research and application of BRT&MEBT/MEBO, and gained many achievements in the treatment of medium and small area burns patients and some severe wounds and ulcers patients and published several professional papers about the BRT&MEBT/MEBO on the international professional periodicals. He is an accomplished expert in the field of BRT&MEBT/MEBO and enjoys a high and influencial academic position in U.A.E and Middle East. During the meeting, the two old friends retrospected together the development and research history of BRT&MEBT/MEBO and then Prof.Xu Rongxiang introduced the new progresses and successes of regenerative medicine achieved in the burnt skin regeneration and the whole human body regenerative restoration science to Dr. Ali. After the intimate communication, two professors were very confident about the future of the regenerative medicine and science and they reached an agreement on the scientific and academic height. After the meeting, Prof.Xu Rongxiang accompanied Prof.Ali to look around the MEBO human body regenerative restoration club, human cells research laboratory and the capsule endoscope checking room of human GI tract. After that, Prof. Chen Yongchong, the clinical director of Chinese Burn Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine delivered a brief presentation to Dr. Ali about the new development of regenerative medicine applied in the aspects of gastrointestinal tissue organs regeneration, broken finger regeneration and anti-cancer treatment. Dr. Ali was deeply attracted and shocked by the new development and achievements of regenerative medicine and science with admiration. He exclaimed that from the first day he got acquainted with Dr. Xu, he believed the new concept and theory of skin regeneration and the clinical results proposed by him. Although the mechanism of BRT was not clear at that time, he believed that it was just the issue of time. This visit made he meet with Prof. Xu again and get the answers to the indefinite questions and see the fast development of regenerative science as well. Once again, he strengthened his confidence in devoting himself in this career. After the presentation, Ms. Sun Xia, the GM of the international department of MEBO INTERNATIONAL GROUP held a warm meeting with Dr. Ali and they had a formal talk on the development of regenerative science and medical exploitation in U.A.E and Middle East, and also discussed the developing plan for the next stage specifically.
November 14, 2009, Dr. Ali attended the 37th ICS 2009 Beijing Conference in Beijing Union Medical College Hospital. This conference was held by the International College of Surgeon together with Surgery Society of Chinese Medical Association and Beijing Union Medical College Hospital. ICS is found in Geneva in the year of 1935 and it has branch associations in more than 70 countries and areas and attains a high academic fame in all over the world. Surgeons from more than 20 countries and areas such as USA, Britain and France attended the conference. On the conference, Dr. Ali delivered a speech on the title of Moist Exposed Burn Therapy (MEBT) and introduced the application of BRT&MEBT/MEBO on treating different types of burns, wounds and ulcers and the mechanism of skin regenerative restoration. Surgeons from USA, the Great Britain and Germany were very interested in this special lecture and the technique which can realize the skin wound healing with convenient method, high efficacy and high quality without pain or further damage to the healthy tissues. After the lecture, all of them were eagerly to know more about this technique in treating different burns, ulcers and refractory wounds with admiration. Moreover, Moist Exposed Burn Therapy was considered as the minimal invasive technique on the conference with high curative efficacy and worthy being promoted and applied in all over the world.
In the afternoon of November 16th, 2009, after completing the speech on the 37th ICS 2009 Beijing Conference, Dr. Ali left Beijing for Tai’an City, Shandong province and started his visit for study, field observation and academic exchanges in the Affiliated Hospital of Taishan Medical University. The leaders of Affiliated Hospital of Taishan Medical University attached a great importance to the visit of Dr. Ali. Hu Jiangong, the vice president of the hospital made the special arrangement warmlly. Yang Xiaowen, the director of the medical department seriously carried out the work of organization, planning, reception, coordination and noticing. The director of the burn department associate Prof. Xu Xisheng, Dr.Wang Guangshun and charge nurse Gong Peixin aroused the whole staffs in the department for preparation work of welcoming the U.A.E expert’s visit and academic exchanges. The atmosphere in the burn department was full of happiness.
On 9 a.m. of November 17th, Dr. Ali accompanied by Dr. Chen Yongchong and medical interpreter Zhang Yin arrived at the Affiliated Hospital of Tai’shan Medical University. The vice president Hu Jiangong and the Medical director Yang Xiaowen held a warm welcome ceremony in the meeting room for Dr. Ali’ s observation, study and academic exchanges in the Affiliated Hospital of Tai’shan Medical University. After the welcome ceremony, Dr. Ali guided by Director Xu Xisheng of Burns Department visited and observed the treating results of different types of burns, wounds and ulcers patients by BRT&MEBT/MEBO in the clinical wards according to the schedule. In present, the Burns Department hospitalized 26 patients, among them there were 7 large area burn patients. Dr. Ali focused on the ward visit and discussion of 5 large area burn patients in different treating stages. After ward visit, Dr. Ali watched the demonstration of dressing change on patients. Throughout the activity, Dr. Ali visited the ward with excitement, he continued waving hello to the patients and patients’ family members, proposing questions, taking photos and checking the skin healing quality. According to him, he once visited the world best burn care centers in USA and Europe, which all adopted the conventional burns treatment and the survival rate of large area burn patients was lower than 70% in spite of excellent ward condition.
Nevertheless, the burn patients were isolated from the family members in case of infection. The isolation of the burn patients in a dark and enclosing room usually caused the patients nervous, dulll-looking and listless and the burn patients lived in the ward in a panic each day. But today what displayed to Dr. Ali was that different types of burns, no matter of adults or children, they were all kept in the ordinary and open ward. All burn patients in the ward appeared to Dr. Ali that they were invigorated and energetic with an easy, calm mood, able to eat, move and talk freely with family members and friends, even could cooperate with their doctors for dressing change, but no one single case of wound infection occurred. He couldn’t help give the exclamation of how amazing burns regenerative medicine and technique is and how great the Chinese burns doctors and nurses are.
After the ward visit and seminar were completed, Director. Xu and Dr. Wang from the Burns Department of the hospital delivered the lectures on the history of the development of the burns department based on the application of burn regenerative medicine, as well as the experience on the application of BRT&MEBT/MEBO in treating extensive burns and micro-planting for skin regeneration in situ. Dr. Ali was attracted by the lectures and proposed from time to time some questions about the key points and details of burns management and caring to burns doctors and nurses there. The intensive discussion was not closed until 1 p.m. By the former field visiting and close exchange of experience, Dr. Ali claimed that he has from this journey gained a rich harvest, which would strengthen his confidence about the application of burns regenerative medicine and technique in extensive burns treatment in U.A.E.
On 3 p.m. of 17th of November, Dr. Ali was invited by the Affiliated Hospital of Taishan Medical University to deliver a presentation to total over 80 physicians, nurses and medical students on the clinical application of BRT&MEBT/MEBO in U.A.E. and the Middle East. With the interpretation of Mr. Andy, the technique support officer form CBAIM, the audience had a good knowledge of the application of BRT&MEBT/MEBO clinically overseas. After that, Dr. Chen was also invited to deliver a lecture on the new advancement of the research and application of Regenerative Medicine, which aroused the great interest and good hope of the medical staffs. After that, a hot discussion between Dr. Chen and the physicians as well as students was taken on the mechanism and other issues of regenerative medicine. With Dr. Chen’s careful and patient explanation on the questions especially on the mechanism of regeneration, the medical staffs and students there were inspired and showed the active attitude of devotion of themselves into the research and practice of regenerative medicine for more advancement in the future.
By the end of the day, one week’s visit by Dr. Ali was finished. The fruitful trip to China on one hand furthered the friendship between the two sides, and on the other hand illuminated the path to future scientific development based on the disclosed mechanism of regenerative medicine and human body regenerative restoration science. Moreover, the visit to the Affiliated Hospital of Taishan Medical University strengthen the confidence of Dr. Ali about the clinical application of burns regenerative medicine and technique in extensive burns treatment in U.A.E. Hopefully, this academic journey by Dr. Ali shall propel and promote the education and application of BRT&MEBT/MEBO as well as human body regenerative restoration science in U.A.E.
