Incomparably Advanced Burns Regenerative Medicine and Application Results Created a Second Great Sensation in the World

The annual 5th International Medical Congress, Abu Dhabi was successfully held from October 11th to 13th 2009 in the National Exhibition Center of the capital city of Abu Dhabi, UAE. Prof. Chen Yongchong was at his second invitation to attend this congress and give a topic lecture on burns regenerative medicine. Prof. Chen’s lecture on regenerative medicine research and application was in sharp contrasts to those of Germany and Australian burns experts. All the attending experts and representatives highly evaluated that stem cells research results of burns regenerative medicine and the clinical effects of extensive burn treatment were incomparably advanced in the world! The sub-congress on burns was held in the afternoon of October 12th. There were more than 50 experts and representatives from Britain, Germany, Canada and other 20 countries internationally participating in this topic. It was chaired by Dr. Peter Kas, director of Emergency, Burns and Plastic Surgery Department of Australian Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and four burns experts from Germany, China, Australia and UAE were arranged for giving lectures on different subjects. The first speaker was Dr. Abdel Noureldin from Al Tawam Hospital of UAE and presented a lecture titled “Fluid Resuscitation”. He introduced his experience and principles of fluid resuscitation for burn and trauma treatment. The second was Dr. Johannes Rubenbauer, director of the Burns and Plastic Surgery, Hand Surgery Department of German Hospital Bogenhaussen of the Technical University Munich and his lecture was titled “Big Burn” which introduced the situation of the big burn patient treated with skingrafting therapy in Germany. And he concluded that the survival rate of burn patient with TBAS 67% was less than 1% if treated with current surgical skingrafting techniques. While Prof. Chen was arranged as the third speaker to give his lecture “The research and application of burnt skin regeneration by stem cells in situ”. During his speaking, Prof. Chen introduced the whole process that potential regenerative cells (PRCs) were activated into K-19 epidermis stem cells and the regeneration of skin tissues and organs was realized by regenerative technique of stem cells cultivation in situ. Meanwhile, Prof. Chen showed the audience with clinical pictures the whole process of the regeneration of extensive burns (full-thickness) scientifically and objectively. All the listeners were shocked at the marvelous lecture and the incomparably advanced technique from China. The last speaker Dr. Peter Kas was from Australian Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and was the director of the Burns, Plastic Surgery and Emergency Department. He gave a lecture on Electrical Injury and introduced the treatment of patients with electrical injuries treated by skin flap and skin grafting therapy as well as the precautions of electrical injury management.

At the end of the lecture, it was the session of questions and answers.
