Medical Development of MEBO Regenerative Medicine and Therapy Received Notable Progress in Indonesia at the First Half Year of 2009
With joined efforts of active organization and perfect arrangement between MEBO International Business Department and Combiphar Company of Indonesia, the first stage of medical project of MEBO regenerative medicine and therapy development had been in smooth and successful progress from June 3rd to 21st in Indonesia. The first stage of the medical project mainly included programs of once participation in a national academic conference, and organization of one seminar of provincial level, eight municipal seminars and two hospital-level seminars with 892 participants of clinicians and nurses in total. Further more, academic discussion and experience exchange had been held with Chairman of Indonesian Burn Association and more than 20 key clinicians. There were 6 cases of burned patients having received consultation rescue and instructive treatment. Meanwhile 42 staff from marketing division of Combiphar Company had received medical marketing training in this project. To our great comfort, notable and satisfactory results have been gained. The brief conclusion is as follows:
One June 4th to 6th : At the invitation, Prof. Chen Yongchong, director of Clinical Department of Chinese Burn and Ulcer Research Center participated National Annual Congress of Indonesian Burn & Plastic Surgery Association ( including 89 clinicians from Burn Department and over 60 residents nationally from Indonesia ). With the efforts of Combiphar Company, the display themed by skin regenerative medicine and MEBO products was arranged in the council house. In the conference, Prof. Chen had academic ideas exchange with former and present Chairmen respectively and established good personal relations with them. Besides, Prof. Chen got acquainted with some Burn clinicians and organized a seminar on regenerative medicine for 20 key clinicians, which played effective roles in promotion, and training regenerative medicine and technology as well as marketing regenerative products.

Two June 8th: Municipal seminar at Saiful Anwar Hospital in the city of Malang. The hospital is the largest governmental hospital (as well as the affiliated teaching hospital of the Medical College) in Malang, covering an estimated 600 ward beds. It has its own Burn Division, covering 8 ward beds. In the conference room, the seminar on clinical training of burns regenerative medicine was hosted by Dr. Herman Joseph and assembled more than 120 clinicians and nurses from over 20 famous hospitals and clinics in the city. Prof. Chen, director of Clinical Department of Chinese Burn and Ulcer Research Center, gave a training program on the subject of The Application of Burns Regenerative Medicine and Therapy on Burns, Traumas, Ulcers and Dermatosis. Prof. Chen’s academic speech and clinical technique instruction were well received by the listeners and they actively raised their questions to which Prof. Chen gave his detailed explanation. After the seminar, at the warmly invitation by the director, Prof. Chen came to Burn Division and gave the consultation and clinical instructions on 2 cases of extensively burned patients. Prof. Chen demonstrated the whole procedures of the application of skin regenerative medicine and therapy on burn wounds wrapping. The feedback from the Burn Division two weeks later showed good results that after the application of burn regenerative medicine and therapy the burned patients had less pain and there were newly grown skin tissues on burn wounds.

Three June 9th: Municipal seminar at Sangglah Hospital in the city of Denpasar. The hospital is the largest governmental hospital (as well as a teaching hospital) in Denpasar, covering an estimated 1000 ward beds and with the Burn Division of 12 ward beds. In the lecture hall, the seminar on clinical training of burns regenerative medicine was hosted by Dr. Asmarajaya, director of Major Surgery Department and Burn Department and assembled more than 60 clinicians and nurses from over 20 famous hospitals and clinics in the city. Prof. Chen presented the academic lecture and clinical technology training. Besides, Dr. I Nyoman Semadi, director of the General Surgery Department gave a report on The Clinical Experience of MEBT/MEBO treated with Diabetic Ulcers, introducing their clinical experience and results of the application of regenerative techniques on diabetic ulcers since last two years. In the seminar, all the participants showed great interests in the contents and actively raised their questions, which received satisfactory answers from Prof. Chen and Dr. I Nyoman Semadi.

Four June 10th: Municipal seminar at Wangaye Hospital in the city of Denpasar. It was a church hospital before. After the independence of Indonesia, it was owned by the government. The hospital covers about 60 ward beds. The seminar was organized in the meeting room and the participants included 59 clinicians and nurses from hospitals and clinics in this district. For there was no Burn Department in the hospital, Prof. Chen mainly introduced the results and therapeutic methods of the application of regenerative technology on traumas, ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers. The training program made all the clinicians and nurses get a more comprehensive understanding of the features and application scope of regenerative medicine and technology. With its rich and novel contents, the seminar received great popularity among all the participants.

Five June 11th: Municipal seminar at the General Hospital in the city of Balikpapan. It is a governmental hospital and teaching hospital covering an estimate 600 ward beds. In the lecture room, the seminar on regenerative medicine and technology training was hosted by Dr. Erica Lukman, director of Major Surgery Department and assembled 63 clinicians and nurses from 20 hospitals and clinics in the city. Prof. Chen gave detailed explanation to the participants’ questions during their clinical practices. In the afternoon, Prof. Chen held a seminar for the medical staff from the infirmary of E&P Petro Corp, Indonesia and helped them lay the foundation of practical application of regenerative medicine and therapy on small burn wounds, traumas and chronic ulcers.

Six June 16th: At 6 am, Prof. Chen and his delegation went to the city of Samarinda by car and held the provincial seminar on regenerative medicine and therapy in the multi-functional conference room of municipal administration building of Samarinda. The seminar was sponsored by Combiphar Company, and joined-run by Clinicians Academy and Surgery Doctors Academy of Kalimantan Province and it belongs to province-level continuing education program (15 credits). The participants included about 160 hospital leaders and clinicians from more than 60 hospitals of 6 cities. All the participants expressed great interests in the lecture on regenerative medicine and technological training and remarkable results had been received.

Seven June 15th: The municipal seminar was held in M.Housein Hospital in Palembang city. And more than 60 clinicians and nurses had the training program on regenerative medicine and satisfactory results have received. After the seminar, Prof. Chen was invited to give consultation and clinical guidance for 3 cases of burned patients in the ward and got remarkable results.

Eight June 17th: The seminar was given in the Pertamina Hospital of the capital city Yakarta. There were 65 clinicians and nurses in the training program. All of them showed huge interests in regenerative medicine. In the afternoon, Prof. Chen was invited to the Burn Center of the hospital to give the consultation and clinical directions on treatment of skin burn regenerative therapy in treating one case of 8-year extensively burned patient (TBSA 69%, and deep third degree of 60%, superficial third degree of 9%) and demonstrated the standard methods of wounds management. Just after the reception of MEBO treatment, the child patient became calm and all the medical staff present astonished at the marvelous results.

Nine June 18th: In the afternoon, the municipal seminar on regenerative medicine was held in the Kayar Hospital in Tambun. It was hosted by the Clinician Academy of Tambun and part of municipal continuing education project (9 credit points). The participants included 156 clinicians and nurses from more than 20 hospitals and clinics of the city. Prof. Chen was invited to present the academic speech and clinical training, which received warm response from the listeners and good results.

Ten June 20th: The municipal seminar on regenerative medicine was successfully held in Horison Hotel of Makassar . It was join-hosted by the Clinicians Academy and Surgery Academy of Makassar and was part of municipal continuing education program (9 credit points). The participants included an estimated 100 clinicians and nurses from more than 10 hospitals of the city. There were three accomplished burn and ulcers experts, who were arranged to give professional lectures to introduce their rich clinical experience. Prof. Chen was invited as guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on regenerative medicine and the training program was very fruitful.

Although the period of Regenerative Medicine training in Indonesia lasts only for 3 weeks, yet based on sufficient and careful arrangement it has achieved significant positive effects on the aspects of academic promotion, technical training and clinical practices, which has further enhanced the medical expansion foundation, accumulated experiences and found a special marketing promotion route for Indonesia. We believe that through the collaborative efforts, Regenerative Medicine Therapy will expand to every corner of Indonesia and benefit more and more patients.
